Our Tunica grandmother told us when she was very young she often played under the chinaberry tree. She told us an old lady with very beautiful long hair appeared and said that she could make necklaces with the seeds. She gathered the seeds dyed some of them and made so many necklaces long and pretty to go dancing. Grandmother told us she never saw that woman again. The woman gave Grandmother a gift to make something so lovely, so magic. Now our tree continuously produces berrie for us to create necklaces. Grandmother taught us our methods to clean them and our patterns come in dreams from the spirit of our Tunice Grandmother.
