The Eight Point star is a map of the earth and the sky. What happens in the sky is reflected on earth. This symbol is a part of ancient Native American astronomy perhaps misunderstood by those who did not know the language of the peoples they encountered. Our Native ancestors may have used this art form to express their sightings of comets. This symbol is seen in effigy forms in the mound culture perhaps representing the sun.
